Our concert, featuring Schubert’s Mass in G Major and Rossini’s Stabat Mater, on Sunday 23rd October at Bishop’s Chapel was a resounding success. We have received wonderful feedback from members of the near capacity audience. Here are some of their comments:
“We really enjoyed the performance. Absolutely magnificent. Mesmerising in fact”
“Just a big “Thank you everyone” for a memorable performance last evening. It was great, and we were so pleased to have made the effort to come into town again. The Schubert was great – we heard details in the interpretation that we have simply never heard properly before, and the Rossini was an absolute first for us. An amazing ‘mash-up’ (may I be forgiven!) of the liturgical and the operatic, and so tuneful. The unaccompanied sections must have been very challenging for the choir but they worked well for us.”
“It was such a high standard and the music was wonderful, especially that last complex fugue weaving amen. It brought tears to my eyes to think of how hard everyone had worked for the one magnificent performance. What a privilege to have been there.!”
Music Director Alex Fokkens with soloists Annemarie Steenkamp, Magdalene Minnaar, Makudu Senaoana and George Stevens
